Saturday, February 28th, 1:00-4:00 p.m Squash Lake
Have you ever heard of playing shuffleboard on a frozen lake? No? Well this is an event NPT members look forward to every winter. Marj and Dan Mehring have created a new cold weather pastime that’s really a lot of fun. They create a “board of ice” on the surface of Squash Lake, engineer the required designs for marking the “board” with sand, use “wood cookies” as pucks and incorporate old ski poles as cues to push the discs across the frozen surface. When your team is not playing on the ice, you then have the opportunity to enjoy a round of disc golf in their backyard. This consists of using old fishing nets for baskets and Frisbee for discs. There will be a roaring wood fire to sit around if you need to take a break from having too much fun. Everyone should bring your own beverage and a snack or dessert to share if able. There will be hot water and Swiss Miss hot cocoa mix available. Dress for the weather, this is Ice Shuffleboard after all. Ice cleats are helpful while walking on the ice if you have them. Hope you can join us for this unique NPT event.
