5/9 Paddle Twin Lakes Creek Meet at the put in on Rasmusson Road Culvert

Saturday May 9th 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm Meet at the Rasmuson Road Culvert

Get ready to paddle, because the water level for this event is perfect for your kayak or canoe.  Dave Hansen and I paddled this creek yesterday, just south of Starks, Wisconsin and thought we would share the experience with other NPT folks.

The paddle will take us through a marsh landscape with ducks, beaver and your occasional turtle as possible sightings. There should be a good current with lots of “meandering paddling’ going on.  This means it’s all downhill flatwater paddling with lots of twists and turns. We will gather at the put-in at 1:00 pm and get ready for the app. 20 minute shuttle to Dave and Nancy’s home on Fourth Lake of the Moens Chain.  We will paddle down Twin Lakes Creek, app. 48 minutes, to the confluence of Fifth Lake and paddle to the state owned island and check it out.  This island allows overnight camping .  Once done exploring, we will continue paddling app 25 min to the Hansen’s lake home on Fourth Lake.   Nancy will be waiting for us with soup and bread (thank you Nancy) as we conclude our day’s paddle around 4:00 pm. Bring snacks, water and appropriate clothing and footwear.  A PFD is required.  If you do not have a boat let the host know and possibly we can get you set up so you won’t miss this fun event.  Directions from the Ice Arena intersection of Hwy 17 and Hwy C. Travel east on Hwy C to the  small community of Starks (12 min).  Turn right on to Rasmusson Road going south app 2 miles to the culvert for Twin Lakes Creek.  Hope to see you soon –  J
