Sunday, July 26, 11:00- 3:30 pm., Paddle the Manitowish River, Put-In at the Rest Lake Dam, Manitowish Waters, followed by Music in the Park 4:00 – 6:00 pm at Koller Park on the shores of Rest Lake across the road from the put-in.
Let’s get together and do some more paddling this summer and enjoy a free outdoor concert. Remember to bring a chair. Even though the Manitowish River is 50 miles long, we are only going to do an easy 5 mile section. We will start in the community of Manitowish Waters and finish our voyage at the wayside landing along Hwy 51. The river is slow moving, but once in a while you’ll come upon a few riffle areas to change the pace abit. Let’s meet at 11:00 am in Manitowish Waters at the Rest Lake Dam. Rest Lake Dam Put in The put-in will be the boat landing on the downstream side of the dam on County Hwy W. This will be adjacent to the Pea Patch bar and motel (6011 County Hwy W) (where there is a parking area). We will unload our boats and shuttle our vehicles a few miles north on Hwy 51 to the take-out at the Hwy 51 Wayside Landing. For those wanting to partake in a bit of socializing after the paddle we can find our way back to Manitowish Waters for food and music. Koller Memorial Park.A wearable PFD is required on all NPT paddle events. Directions from Rhinelander (50 min, 45 miles) Starting at the intersection of Hwy K & 47 travel north to Woodruff and turn right on Hwy 51. Stay on Hwy 51 to Hwy W (turn right) and drive into Manitowish Waters. Look for the Pea Patch on your left and turn down toward the landing below the dam.
