Bike the Three Eagle Trail, Wednesday, October 21st, 10:30 a.m – 2:30 p.m., Meet at the Sundstein Road Trailhead
Grab your bicycle in the garage and get ready to saddle up for a fall bike ride in the Northwood’s. This time we are heading over about half way between Eagle River and Three Lakes. We will bike from the trailhead down to Three Lakes and back which is about a 16 mile round trip. When we arrive in Three Lakes we will search out a restaurant or coffee shop to eat and relax before we head back. The trail is relatively flat and is composed of compacted crushed limestone. The trail meanders through wetlands, dense forest and marshy pines with lots of twists and turns and plenty of benches to rest on. The route includes two boardwalks and a bridge which offers opportunities to see a wide variety of wildlife. Wearing a bike helmet is strongly encouraged on all NPT biking events.
Directions from Rhinelander: (app. 25 min from Menards) Take Hwy 17 north through Sugar Camp and turn right on Sundstein Road. At your first intersection turn right. (Apple Valley Lane should be directly in front of you). Less than a mile the gravel Trail Head Parking Lot will be on your left. Real bicycles and ebikes are welcome. See ya at the trailhead. – J
