Mike Svob, author of Paddling Northern Wisconsin, reminds us, “at one time, the river from Eagle River to Wisconsin Dells roared through a 200- mile succession of awesome rapids, but all have been tamed by dams.” The seven mile stretch, below the Otter Rapids Dam that we will paddle, is compatible for all skill levels. Sunday, July 26, 11:00- 3:30 pm., Paddle the Manitowish River, Put-In at the Rest Lake Dam, Manitowish Waters, followed by Music in the Park 4:00 – 6:00 pm at Koller Park on the shores of Rest Lake across the road from the put-in. Let’s get together and do some more paddling this summer and enjoy a free outdoor concert. Remember to bring a chair. Even though the Manitowish River is 50 miles long, we are only going to do an easy 5 mile section. We will start in the community of Manitowish Waters and finish our voyage at the wayside landing along Hwy 51. Thursday, August 6th. 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.: Dells of the Eau Claire County Park, main picnic shelter parking area County Rd Y, Aniwa, WI 54408 Join Northern Paddle and Trail for a relaxing summer hike through one of north central Wisconsin’s most beautiful natural areas. The Dells of the Eau Claire County Park features spectacular rock formations carved by rushing water, scenic overlooks, towering pines, and peaceful forest trails. We’ll explore approximately 5 miles of trails, stopping often to enjoy the unique geology, river views, and opportunities for photography. Following our hike, we’ll gather for a picnic lunch in the park.…
